Alternative Therapeutic Treatment Techniques
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy - a gentle technique that stimulates the lymphatics of the skin and deeper structures, including organs, to assist the body in cleansing, allowing fluid circulation, provides deep relaxation and enhances the immune system. LDT is often indicated for pre-operative patients, post-operative patients experiencing swelling due to node removal or tissue issues related to scarring, chemo or radiation. LDT as part of an osteopathic protocol is used to treat chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.
Visceral Manipulation- Gentle manipulation of the organs that can alter and improve motion, structure and physiological functioning of the organ systems and the entire body. Organ restrictions can present as orthopedic issues also. VM can be indicated for organ dysfunction, post injury or surgery and post-partum.
Energy Medicine Therapy and Zero Balancing- Energy is in everything. Toxins, stress, constrictions in the body, illness and negative thinking can interfere with the proper flow of energy in and around the body. People, events and habits can cause energies to be out of balance with the needs of your physical and emotional body. Energy can be rebalanced to allow free flow of health throughout your body. Energy Therapy can assist with energy systems including Meridians, Chakras, Radiant Circuits and more. Zero balancing is a powerful method of balancing body energy and structure, including bone energy,
Cranial Sacral Therapy- A gentle, light touch method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the brain, spinal cord and meninges within the craniosacral system. An imbalance or dysfunction can cause sensory, motor or neurological disabilities, chronic pain, learning disabilities and other problems.
Brain Therapy- A gentle osteopathic technique that works on brain tissue, nuclei, fluid and the autonomic nervous system. Brain therapy can affect hormones, posture, equilibrium, organs, alertness, cognition, memory, motivation, movement, pain, sleep and more. It is often indicated for post-concussions, headaches, organ dysfunction, to name a few.
Perinatal and Postural Reflexes in Adults and Children- These reflexes are also called primary, and are established in utero and at a deep level they provide protection, nutrition and survival. They are usually inhibited by three years of age due to growth, development and natural movement. Perinatal reflexes should be replaced by voluntary motor skills. If not inhibited they are unintegrated and can create delays and impairments in physical, emotional, cognitive, behavioral or social skills. Some examples include learning disabilities, ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, delayed speech, decreased coordination, decreased motivation, etc.
Testing reflexes involves movement and balance activities. To inhibit or integrate a reflex it involves holding a location on the head and then re-testing. The testing works well with children four and five years of age and lasts about 30 minutes. Some patients may need another session or 2 to integrate the reflexes. Simple and fun home exercises are recommended.
There are some reflexes that are lifelong and do not need to be integrated. The primary reflexes can also re-appear following stress or trauma, accidents, surgery, etc. Many adults have retained reflexes.
Brain Therapy for Toxins and Allergies- There are over 200 identified toxins in umbilical cord blood. Toxins become stored in tissues, bones, fluids, organs and brain. Pesticides, Mercury, Lead, Aluminum, cleaning products, personal care products, hair dye, environmental, water and pharmaceuticals are some examples. Toxins can cause vision issues, brain fog, balance issues, digestive dysfunction, chronic inflammation, cancer, headaches and irritability. Treatment for releasing toxins and allergies falls under brain therapy and involves invoking the toxin and testing meninges/brain for areas of neural activity. Treatment involves holding the meninges and accessing bone energy and marrow for release.
Heart Centered Therapy- Addresses the physical effects of unresolved emotion in the body. Physical symptoms are often interwoven with traumatic events. Through dialogue with the wisdom of the heart, conflict and personal issues can come to resolution. Patients are able to identify the emotional component of disease in the body and transform it. These issues are often generational or from conception to birth and beyond.
Neuromuscular Therapy- NMT is soft tissue manipulation that relieves pain and dysfunction by balancing the nervous system with the musculoskeletal system based on physiological principles of ischemia, trigger-points, nerve compression and postural distortion.
